I have a really hard time finding books that keep my interest any more. I have a ton of kindle books I downloaded thinking they were sci-fi, fantasy or dystopian only to find out they are really romances. Ill never read them, but every once in awhile I find a real gem. This series is one. I am sorry they are over. Good job!

I am going to give the same review for each of the 3 books as all I can say is that they were brilliant, non stop action and a great story to boot, loved the characters. Could not put all three books down and I hope their is a continuation of this epic tale.

I don't normally write a reviews of books I read, I just recommend books I like to my friends. So hopefully I have a few million new friends because this is one of the best vampire books I've read so you should as well.

I read these so fast due to it being an amazing page turner. I am looking forward to more from this world. Great start, middle and end to the saga.

This story sucks you in . . . Yes, I went there. Alex is not a perfect person, but she's a great character. She's not alone, as the other members of her team became as dear to me as they were to her and when she lost a member, I felt as if l'd lost a friend too. Loved the ending and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

If you like vampire genre books, read this! If you like post-apocalypse genre books, read this! Well-written character development, plot twists, whiplash-inducing reveals that make sense in hindsight... this book delivers. The only downside is that I finished on the plane and didn't have the second book with me!

I recently discovered P.T. Hylton through his Deadlock Trilogy and I enjoy his style very much. I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in this new trilogy!

After reading the reviews of numerous other photography books available on Amazon(Kelby,Peterson, Miotke, and the PhotoWorkShop series)I came to the conclusion that you can't please everybody, and everyone has strong opinions about their dislikes.This book is published by DK, and those familiar with the dense slick graphics of that publishing line will have a very good idea as to what they are getting- a lot of material well-covered in a somewhat superficial manner. Photo examples are rather smallish (the "thumbnail complaint" mentioned by another reviewer is valid. ). I also understand why the writing style might NOT be to all readers tastes.However, for a non-mathematical, advanced beginner digital SLR book, I believe Ang's book really does stand out from the crowd. For more comprehensive and technical coverage of the subject there are other, more specialized texts. The Amazon price reduction makes this book especially appearing. I gave this book as a gift to accompany a new Canon Rebel XS- and the recipient was quite pleased with both the material and presentation in the Masterclass book.I'd recommend it for a starter.

Photography books can be expensive and many times not very helpful. This book is neither and you can be comfortable buying it if you are a amateur photographer who has been taking pictures for awhile.Masterclass may be stretching it a bit.But it is a really beautiful and easy to understand book that can help push you forward if you have got a grasp on the basics of hobbyist photography.

I got this book somewhat randomly from my local library. I liked it so much that I bought it through Amazon to keep as a reference.I'd classify myself as a serious amateur photographer. I have a Canon T2i.I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in improving their photography in a comprehensive way. I'm usually happy if I get a few tips that I can use out of a book. This book, however, had many great tips and ideas. It covers both the photographic aspect (taking the pictures) and the post production aspect (manipulating using software). The former it does in a fairly detailed way. The later in a more general way which provides some guidance, but mainly makes you aware of what is possible.I particularly liked the photo shoot "assignments" provided. I would have liked to see more, but the ones provided were great and in a format which would enable you to create your own.This book may not be for you if: 1. you have a fairly basic point and shoot camera or 2. you do not have access to photo editing software. However, if you don't have photo editing software, then this book may inspire you to get it.Again, this gets my highest rating, but note the caveats.

I would say I'm an advanced beginner. Far from professional, but not wholly clueless, either. I just received this book, and I LOVE it. I own several other (drier) photography books. Most all of them leave me wondering "why are the images so bland in a photography book?" This one does not. It's a very "pretty" book, well designed with many lovely, interesting (and varied) photos. The text is thorough without being verbose. Succinct and engaging. It really makes you want to read it. I love--and can't wait to work through--the "assignments" at the end of each chapter; they will make lovely practices for photographers of all levels. The in-chapter interviews are nice and add "extra voices" to engage you in the art. Yes, there is more here for a beginner (advanced peeps won't need things--like burn and dodge, for example--defined for them) but there is a lot to this book, and you can't simply call it a beginner's book. It has nice layers of depth in each chapter. It's a wonderful conversation on photography, and --if for some reason you never 'use' it--it would be a lovely coffee table book. Love it.

This book is suited to learn the intricacies of digital photography. Well written lots of example and assignments to practice what you have just read.One of the good things is the photo analysis that highlights what is good or bad about a photograph. You don't have to agree with the analysis but you will get to understand another view point on the art.The target audience is the more advance photographer. I would highly recommend this book to help take your photography to the next level.

I have lots of digital photography books and subscribe to the usual digital photography magazines in hopes of improving my DSLR skills. This is the best, single, all inclusive, digital photography currently on the market. Its well-laid out, the author's prose is not burdened with technical jargon and the photo examples are especially good when used to illustrate techniques. My only criticism is that some of the photos, because of their size, are a bit too small to really see the differences a technique or camera setting might make. (but then, the book does have size limits) If I were going to buy two photography books that would help improve my understanding of digital photography, inspire me to make better photos and contained examples of great photography, this would be my first choice. My second book would be Joe McNally's "The Moment It Clicks." Its a bit pricey if bought at the list price, but its well worth the money. Buy it and you will never regret the purchase.

Experience is the best teacher. It's a great book to have at hand. But how you benefit from it is in your hand. Even if you read lots of books on how to swim, you will not learn unless you go into the water.Honest advise, replicate samples of picture composition of Tom Ang from his book. Get a notebook and write down the formula (speed, opening, lens, files number, etc) and you will learn a lot. Or simply write down info in word doc with your photo. The beginning tells you what you can eat and what to avoid. The entire book is wonderful.

I cooked many recipes from this book for my husband. He lost 26 lbs. Recipes are very good. I highly recommend this, if you are doing the Keto diet.

This is a fantastic book if u are serious about the keto diet

Terrific recipes! So many great ideas that are both easy and tasty. My teenage son, who is picky, even ate some of the food I cooked using the recipes from this book. The citrus chicken wings were my favorite; in fact, all the poultry recipes I've tried so far have been delicious. The recipes are easy to follow, and the ingredients are easy to find. A must have for new keto dieters.

Looks like lots of good information and tasty sounding recipes. Three stars however because I cannot find serving size or number of servings on the recipes. For example. one recipe calls for 1 1/2 lbs. of ground beef. How many servings should that be?

The book is simple and easy to read and understand...a great Keto Diet primer. I would have liked some photos, but see that this is more educational than a visual experience.

A Room with a View is a great novel that offers insight into society during the early twentieth century. From the beginning of the book, Lucy Honeychurch, the protagonist, is torn between what is socially acceptable. This is illustrated by the love triangle between Lucy, George (her true love), and Cecil (her fiancé). George is of a lower class than her, and yet, he is the one she truly loves. Cecil is her pretentious, upper class fiancé who would rather protect her than be her equal. Will she choose George, whom is of a lower social class than her, or Cecil, the socially acceptable wierdo? The themes of love and social status are forever present in the novel. The book is made even more enjoyable by the dry humor employed by E.M. Forster. He is so serious and sarcastic whenever he makes jokes, it makes the book all the better. I found myself loving the book mainly because of how relatable Lucy is. She is a young women trying to find herself in the midst of social pressures. Overall, I thought the book was amazing and would definitely recommend it.

Good grief, this has been my second and possibly third reading of this work (This is over quite a number of years and my long term memory is beginning to fail me...sigh), and I must say that I enjoyed it as much this go-around as I did the first. There is something about this work that simply appeals to me.Now this is not to say that it will be on every readers most favored list - no, far from it, and this is how it should be. For me thought it is an excellent read and if I last longer I will most likely read it again on down the road.This is one of those tales that touches on a wide range of the general overall human condition. It should also ne noted here that the time element covered by this novel is 1908 which is pre WWI and it IS NOT taking place during the `Victorian era' of which several reviewers have stated. No, we are talking the Edwardian era in England and while some of the morals and morays of Victorian times still linger, it is never the less a different age completely. This must be understood to understand the story.Anyway, back to the subjects covered in this work: Love, prejudices, betrayal, strong but understated humor, a snapshot of a previous era, sociological observation of the English upper middle class and of course the clashes of culture; of the rather painful differences between the perceived social classes in England at that time. It also investigates the dilemma of `self' v/s the expectations of society and family. All in all, if you look at it a certain way, not much has changed over the years and the issues addressed in this classical work are still strongly among us even to this day. It takes a long, long time for attitudes in society to fade. I know in my own case that I was raised very closely to grandparents who were as about as Edwardian as you can get and there is no doubt that their influence had a great deal in molding my personality and attitudes...for better or for worse. (Hey, I am old and yes, I can remember people of that generation quite well).We have a young lady; a young lady with brains, even though she does not realize it at the time, who is motivated and pulled apart by her true feelings and those feelings that she is either suppose to have or not suppose to have in a number of situations.Yes, the author has used a number of what we could consider stereotypes of the time but he has used them to good effect and used them to tell his story quite well. While this may bother some folks, I found it to make the overall story more understandable and easier to `go down.'This work starts in Italy and drifts back to England and again, to understand the story, you have to have some understanding of the cultural gap between England and the continent in those days. Good or bad, it was what it was.Few will deny that this is a well written work...it may not be to every ones taste, as I have stated, but good is good by most standards. I can get quite lost in the author's narrative prose and descriptive writing.I was delighted to see that this work is now free via your reading machines...it was about time.Don BlankenshipThe Ozarks

This is one of my favorite books. I read it right after watching the movie. I love both. I am a fan of E.M. Forster. This was my 1st, but I have since read most of what he has written. I would say he is one of my all time favorite writers, up there with Jane Austen, and J.K. Rowling. I tend to like either Romance or fantasy/Sci fi. E.M. Forster delivers on Romance. It is true, his books may move a bit slow for some. I prefer it. I feel like I get to know the characters in a more personal way, when I see more of their day to day in the pages. This one moves faster than his others, and is the most cheerful of all his books.The characters are written so well. Lucy is our slightly bratty main character. The mother and the brother are sweet. I love Mr Beebe: the very liberal vicar. I love George and his father. Both are romantic, manly characters. Cecil is clueless but still entertaining and lovable. I love the mischievous romance novelist. I love the Miss Alans, who I am probably most like, in the story,("tiresome... with all of their iffing and butting.") I especially love that you are still able to love all of the characters despite quite obvious flaws. None of them are one dimensional characters. They all have their bright points and redeeming characteristics. Just thinking about this book makes me smile. SPOILER: My favorite line:....................................................................................................... "It is Fate, but you can call it Italy if it pleases you Vicar."

This is another absolute gem from Forster; writing, characters and story extremely good. His common themes of class and love and a changing England get a new layer of scandal and modernity that was simultaneously surprising and absolutely natural. He was able to write in the house as a character in such a way as I was transported and didn't want to leave in a hurry. Beautiful.

This is a simple, straight-forward introduction to using MySQL. This is the text-book my Database Design teacher uses for CSIS-1550, and it's a good, practical, no-nonsense text. The author is good about pointing out the commands, syntax and functions that vary from one SQL implementation to the next, so that it's clear to the novice reader that SQL isn't 100% uniform from one vendor to the next. I've been very disappointed by a lot of the textbooks I've had to buy for my classes, but this book isn't one of them - I feel good about recommending this book.

Bought this book for school. It was well structured, and has information for a information all lined up so you can create your own database without struggling for information to fill it up with. It's a great book. I'd definitely buy it again.

I sort of feel like I have to read too much to get to the point in this book. Over and over again I'll read a couple pages and think "I could have said that in one paragraph." Other than that, it seems to be a pretty solid book. The info is easy to understand, it gives examples and to be honest, the wordiness of it is probably something that a lot of readers would appreciate. I've had a little experience with SQL, though, so maybe that was my problem. Mind you, the experience I had was doing basic queries and basic joins. That's it.

I bought this book for a class I took. As far as textbooks go it was fine, I've certainly had worse, it presented information in an easy to understand way. I docked it one star only because it didn't have examples for all of the commands. Some operators would have detailed examples showing how to use them properly, others would just have a text description of what the operator does but not really show how to use it in a query.

This book is poorly constructed, and is a disservice to anyone that wishes to learn about MySQL. The authors appear to be more concerned with making you remember and recall the particulars of the imaginary companies (Henry Books, Premiere Products, Alexamara Marina) that they have created than actually teaching the material.The index at the back of the book is atrocious. Attempting to relocate critical information in this book is an exercise in frustration. It appears that they attempted to save paper by providing an incomplete index which is in no way representative of all of the features of MySQL.The accompanying curriculum to this book is also very poor.I ended up bringing an alternate book to class (MySQL (4th Edition) [Paperback] by Paul DuBois (Author), ISBN 0672329387) to find specific functions or reference when other students had questions that the textbook was unable to address.This book does have one positive quality. It is very light (288 pages) compared to the aforementioned comprehensive 1224 page book that I prefer. However, I ended up having to carry them both to class, making the weight savings irrelevant.

I thought this book was horrible. It's difficult to follow and doesn't really provide any useful info. I didn't use it at all for my SQL course as there are far better resources (such as the internet) than this book for helping you learn SQL.

Needed this book for a college class. Nothing really that cannot be found online, it was the in text questions that were needed to complete various assignments.

This textbook would be nice if it came with an e-reader feature. I like the option for flashcards! For the money, this was a great deal for the semester.

This book is really difficult for me to review, and in fact, I haven’t been able to sit down and write anything for it until a couple weeks after I finished because, while I knew what my thoughts were, it’s hard to adequately explain them. Because this book has some really excellent aspects, but it also has some really bad ones.I’ll talk about the good things first.Overall, PERIOD POWER has really good information and it’s a good, factual account of what menstruation can be like, the multitude of different hygiene products, the history of menstrual products and the way it’s depicted in society, and general intersectionality. The book and author acknowledge privilege. They recognize and reiterate that menstrual products should be readily accessible for all, and the book talks about how menstruation is different between races biologically, culturally, and socially. Also, a very large part of the book focuses on the difficulties of acquiring hygiene products when you’re homeless, living in poverty, and/or serving time in prison. Okamoto covers a lot of different intersections and areas that often go unacknowledged when it comes to period talk, which was wonderful on a larger scale.But she and this book don’t manage to hit one of the target marginalizations that they hint at with the blurb: trans and/or nonbinary people. Which is where my bigger issues started to come in.The blurb uses the phrase “people who menstruate,” which initially made me excited, because so often when talking about menstruation, people only talk of it as something women experience, when in fact, not all women menstruate, some men do, and so do some nonbinary people. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really pan out very well within the book. Okamoto and the text mention women (of course) and nonbinary people (yay!), but trans men are basically never mentioned, and even the mentions of enbies are few and far between. They say that it’s important to be inclusive, and as I mentioned, the book does a great job of inclusivity…in all areas but gender. For a majority of the book–I’d honestly say about 95%–menstruators are referred to as women, which is harmful, upsetting, and downright ridiculous when Okamoto is clearly aware of the complexity of gender. There’s a single, small section in the last 25% of the book, written by a trans person, which was nice to read. But right after that miniscule section, there’s a whole paragraph where Okamoto goes off about using inclusive language…and then goes right back to saying “women” a paragraph or two later. There was an obvious attempt by the author, but it just failed in such an epic way as to be even more hurtful than if she’d just excluded trans and/or nonbinary people altogether.Other issues I had with the book include:- The book briefly mentions PMDD (PreMenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) as something that some menstruators experience, but doesn’t explain it at all. And certainly not as thoroughly as PMS (PreMenstrual Syndrome/Symptoms) is detailed.- Endometriosis is explained, but PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) isn’t even mentioned as something some menstruators have to deal with.- There was some weird, random comment that made it seem like it was “anti-feminist” for people (read: women) to want to get married, have kids, and be happy with that.Overall, the book was pretty good and I really did like that there was so much information, but the problems I had were significant enough to lower my rating and appreciation for it.

I read this striking book in one sitting in the back of my family minivan on the way from the SF Bay Area to Tahoe. In it, Nadya blends together her personal testimony and in-depth historical and scientific research in a conversational, yet informative, debut novel. She illustrates why the Menstrual Movement matters and shares a range of ways to get involved with it, from simply discussing periods in everyday conversation to chip away at taboos, to launching your own PERIOD chapter, to finding your own cause to start a movement around. This book details the place that periods hold in intersectional activism between socioeconomic, racial, and gendered lines - and in legislation, taxation, and criminal justice reform, and social entrepreneurship. Full disclaimer: I'm involved at a PERIOD chapter at my campus, so yes, there is some bias here, haha, because I already believe in the importance of destigmatizing, celebrating, and improving access to menstrual hygiene. This book definitely reaffirmed my joy in being part of this movement! But also, having been able to work with Nadya, I can say, beyond the testament of work ethic, passion, and self awareness that she demonstrates in this book -- she is all the more in real life :) One of the things I appreciate most about Nadya, that she writes about in this book, is that despite growing up a social media native in the generation of pretty "Instagrammable" pictures and witty captions, Nadya is more than willing to share her challenges, struggles, mistakes, and most of all, how she learns from all these things. This is only the beginning!

Everyone needs to read this book. As a birth and postpartum doula, I find that many first time parents often don't understand how their own bodies work. We don't learn this extensively in school. I am 27 and some of this information is new to me too. We need to prepare the younger generations and destigmatize the taboo that is the menstrual cycle.

I pre-ordered this on a whim after hearing Ingrid Nilsen mention it and wow am I glad I did. I think this is a must read for everyone. And I do mean everyone. I learned so much and my eyes were opened to a lot of things I never knew about my body and to the experiences of others. It is not a challenging read and it is very engaging. It left me feeling empowered and motivated, and I can't wait to read it again to really soak in all the information. I might end up buying it again and gifting it to everyone I know because the more the knowledge is spread, the better off we all are. 10/10 would recommend.

After sitting down and truly dissecting this book, I became even more proud to be a part of the menstrual movement. I will admit I was not only naive to the struggles homeless menstruators face, but to the menstrual cycle in general. As a second year college student, it was both empowering to have this knowledge at my fingertips, but frustrating to not have known half of the information in this book, despite countless health classes in middle & high school. Period Power is a must read for everyone, regardless of gender, race, or class. Not only is it educational, but it's eye opening in a way you wouldn't expect. PLUS, Nadya's anecdotes make this novel something anyone can learn from, and possibly even relate to- including non menstruators. My copy is full of questions, statements, and exclamation points... once you open your copy, I'm sure yours will look the same!

I loved this book! Not only does the book shine light on the founder Nadya Okamoto’s inspiration, but it also smashes the stigma surrounding menstruation. Right now is the time for everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin and not be ashamed of doing so. After having the chance to meet and intern for Period, the Menstrual Movement, I could not be more proud of Nadya Okamoto!!

Just received my copy of Hacking Growth and I can already tell that it is going to be one of those classic business books that I return to again and again long after reading it the first time. The book is full of incredibly smart ideas for ways to grow your business - no matter what business you are in. What I love the most is that everything in the book is backed up with proof and examples of how these techniques and ideas have been used with proven and repeated success--so after reading this book there is no need to just throw something out there to see what sticks anymore.The book is presented in a smart and thoughtful format, with part 1 covering the method and process of Growth Hacking and part 2 being the playbook for applying the method of Growth Hacking to your specific business. I think the format makes the book easily digestible and I found the writing thorough and the information to be actionable.Simply put, Hacking Growth is a must-read for any marketer, manager, owner, or entrepreneur who is trying to grow their business in today's ever-changing market.

This book is so packed with great ideas and methods it's crazy! If you are looking for a combination of real practical advice, inspiring stories and actual methods- yes actual methods you can start using- you need this book! Did you ever wish you could download someone's brain and experience? Well now you can download Sean and Morgan, it's that good. My book is covered in highlights, pages dog eared, pieces of paper stuck through it, It's become my growth bible, my reference guide and my inspiration. You will read and re-read it, every page is packed with solid advice on each stage of growth, even how to build a growth team and manage experiments. It's a must read if you are into growth and growth hacking!

What I liked most about Hacking Growth was that it gives business owners, managers, marketers-- anyone responsible for growing their own company-- a solid explanation and understanding of what is needed to attain rapid growth and then follows that up with a straightforward framework that can be immediately implemented in your company regardless of your industry.The approach laid out in the book just makes sense-- it's backed by data, focuses on the customer, and can be quickly put into place. The main premise of Hacking Growth and probably my single greatest takeaway is that the companies that learn the fastest, grow the fastest. And the many, many examples in the book make it easy to see how companies take advantage of many small wins over time to build up a big advantage.While I'm not from the tech industry, I truly feel like the authors did an excellent job of showing how this process can apply to businesses of all types, using examples of restaurants and grocery stores in addition to the big name tech companies.I definitely think anyone responsible for results and business growth can benefit from reading this book.

I felt that the book was well written, and the authors did a good job of dispelling the myth that "growth hacking" is simply about tweaks to a company's marketing strategy. The book expressed some important concepts related to product-market fit that are often times ignored when conversations about growth hacking take place. It was an "easy" read (in the colloquial sense), and I recommend it for anyone who is in a product manager, marketing, sales, or general analyst role.

Great Read!!! Not being an avid reader a book must cover an interesting topic and be written in Layman's terms. From the first two pages I was hooked. Working in the SAAS space and wondering why some decisions are made by marketing that don't make sense "Hacking Growth" helps make sense of all of it. I highly recommend for anyone in sales who feels like marketing is not listening and making strange decisions. Very thought provoking and easy to understand just how valuable data is and when used properly can help a business grow quickly.
