At first glance, this books looks like another debunking book...someone dismantling a commonly held belief about a specific stance on a faith issue. While Hunt most definitely debunks the rapture, and quite handily, he does it in such a way that is not threatening or belittling. Drawing on his own experience as once being fixated on the rapture and end times studies, Hunt approaches the errancy of the rapture with passion but also compassion. He's been there, so he gets it and confronts one of the biggest hurdles in overcoming faulty, unfaithful theology: pride. But best of all, Hunt does not stop with debunking. He reconstructs something more faithful: a faith practice rooted not in some hope of being sucked up into heaven but faith in God's kingdom breaking into creation in and among us as we live into our kingdom of God identity. This is book isn't written for the smarty pants people with all the fancy degrees (though Hunt has a couple); it's written for the everyday follower of Jesus. His witty, self-deprecating style will make the read feel like conversation with a funny, passionate friend. I recommend this book whole-heartedly.

Well, I'm about halfway through the book and there have been some great nuggets, but I have to admit that I'm let down. He is obviously a former Conservative who is now Liberal in his political views. I don't care where a person leans politically, but what I take issue with is his continued use of his view of politics to make his points when he could easily have made the same points without allowing politics into the book at all! His negative perspective towards Israel and Trump making it into his book have me disappointed. I tend to be more liberal when it comes to religion, but his use of politics in the book are sure to turn off most conservative Christians and they are the ones who need to know this information the most. If you can set aside all the politics in the book the overall point is great and much needed in Christianity.

Not only is the book informative, but it's also fun to read. You don't normally get that with books about theology.

Hilarious, thought provoking, and spot on. Unraptured manages to make you assess and reassess some key ideas about life and end times without being “preachy” or judgmental. Zack does a great job of deadpan to keep you laughing and thinking. It’s the speechless stick guy meme of books.

When faced with the reality that he and the fundamental Christianity he has espoused is part and parcel to young people leaving the ‘church’ – he does the research and writes a book to help lead the ‘church’ back to where it should have never left. Back to the life of Christ and how he taught us to love. This book is breathtaking. #Unraptured has enraptured my soul. I received an advanced copy and could not would not put it down. This book, to quote another author, literally ‘sparked joy’ in my life at a time when I really needed it.

Having read all of the original Miss Fortune series by Ms. DeLeon, I have a pretty clear picture of the characters. The ones in this series are very similar to the original characters, but in this series, they are edgier, I'd even go so far as to say meaner, than the original characters. That's not to say that this isn't a good story, because the story,itself, is good. I like the premise very much, but, sadly, it lacks the humor and camaraderie of the original. I'm not giving up on the series, though. I'll keep reading the series to see if the characters improve.

So well crafted, I did not want to put this down! Gertie and Ida Belle have come up with a plan to even things out for ladies done wrong In Mudbug and Sinful. Of course they drag Fortune into it. Gertie is going to get married. How easy is that? Hold on to something because there will be twists and turns you never expect. You will smile, mentally shake your head, and there might be a tear or two. Best yet, while sharing this adventure with them, we learn more of their lives enriching the Miss Fortune Mysteries by Jana DeLeon.

This was an extraordinary story that went a little deeper into the character of Fortune. I enjoyed the humor infused throughout the story and I especially loved the surprise and touching ending. The antic of Sinful's crime solving duo plus one always makes for an entertaining read. I love the fact that Fortune now has knowledge of her family and when she chooses can reconnect. It was heart-warming. I recommend this book to everyone.

I chose this book based on reviews that said the voice was in spontaneity the series (despite being written by another author). I found this to be true. I really enjoyed this novella and the other two I read by Shari Hearn. She does a great job; the stories are compelling and characters true to form. If you are hankering for some Sinful while waiting for Ms. DeLeon's next in series, these will satisfy.

I've read a number of the Kindle series authors because I like the original Miss Fortune characters and setting so much. I think Shari Hearn's stories are the best at continuing the ongoing story line of the originals while also giving Fortune and her supporting cast reasons to bond closer together. They are off-the-wall, laugh-out-loud, memorable romps.

I love the original Miss Fortune series of books by Jana DeLeon and hungrily look forward to each new book. This book of Shari Hearn's was right up there with them. It was fun and all the characters were "in character" with what I have come to expect from them. I'm still waiting for Jana DeLeon's next book, but in the mean time... I'll settle in with one of Shari Hearn's books. Very enjoyable!!!

Absolutely a wonderful series that can be read by anybody. Lots of Mystery, fun, twists and turns and if it could happen to anybody it will happen to Fortune along with her band of grey-headed warriors. Would love to get a hold of some of their cough syrup. LOL.

Hilarity and some of the most poignant moments I've ever read are just two reasons I love this book. The characters are so captivating and endearing, and the plots are highly entertaining. I'm looking forward to more Miss Fortune books set in Sinful.

About the Author

Heather Mac Donald is the Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a contributing editor of City Journal. A non-practicing lawyer, Mac Donald has clerked for the Honorable Stephen Reinhardt, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, has been an attorney-adviser in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and a volunteer with the Natural Resources Defense Council in New York City. The New Jersey State Law Enforcement Officers Association conferred its Civilian Valor Award on her in 2004. She was awarded the 2008 Integrity in Journalism award from the New York State Shields. She was also the recipient of the 2008 Eugene Katz Award for Excellence in the Coverage of Immigration from the Center for Immigration Studies and the 2012 Quill & Badge Award for Excellence in Communication from the International Union of Police Associations. I agree with many of MacDonald's points. I enjoyed the book. It gave me quite a bit to think about. However, as an objective reader, I couldn't help but be disappointed in the lack of citations or support for almost any of her claims. She brings up statistics a lot, which is fine...but rarely cites the sources (other than sometimes mentioning a government agency). No specific report, no study name, no year of study, etc.I expect writers who are attempting to compel their readers to their line of thinking to not only provide a well thought out argument (which she has done), but to also provide objective data and the sources (which she does not - for the latter).This book could have been used as a tool to arm those with knowledge that could be shared in a discussion. Instead, they are talking points. Undoubtedly, if you were to discuss these issues with someone of the opposing view, they would ask "How do you know that?" You can't very well say "Well, it's in some book I read" or "It was in some study from some agency."The exact opposite of MacDonald might be Ann Coulter. Ann is far more provocative and wanting a fight, but she cites every, frickin' source (at least the couple of books I've read of hers do). There are sources for days. But I enjoyed that. While I may not agree with the findings of the source, I enjoyed having the sources available for me to verify.MacDonald just insists that you take her word for it. And while for the most part, I do, it isn't a strong position I can have because I have no idea if what was claimed is actually true or is what is fairly represented by the agency she claims provided some general statistic.As a result, I think this book is more for a) "the choir," b) those who might be on the fence (or are curious) and don't care enough to want to research. For those of us who like to dig deeper, understand the facts of the matter, come to our own conclusions, this just doesn't cut it. It's kind of like the difference between reading a book and reading a summary of the book. It's a surface level treatment without providing sources/verification of her premises.

I was hoping for more - a more in-depth discourse on how the public, and police officers, should respond to the "war on cops". Unfortunately, it seems to me that Mac Donald dove too deeply into "the weeds" in her attempt to explain or justify her position that there is a war on cops. Not that I disagree, but this, for me, is where I began to lose interest in her exposé. Having served in law enforcement for 30 years, I concur with Mac Donald's conclusion that there is a war on cops. However, the war on cops started a very long time ago. Mac Donald appears to claim the discovery of the "Ferguson effect" - the reluctance by police officer to engage in self-initiated law enforcement activities in favor of reactive responses to perceived or actual criminal activity. I submit that that effect began in 1991, as the "Rodney King effect". Watch the video (ALL of them), read the transcripts of the state trial (in which the officers were acquitted), recall the condemnation by President George H.W. Bush (BEFORE the trial), actions by he US Attorney General, and subsequent conviction in federal court. The impact on law enforcement officers of that time was palpable. Mac Donald, I think correctly highlights the arbitrary and capricious nature of decision by federal judges, which I believe, suggests that the authority of individual federal judges should be curbed and substituted, at minimum, with federal judicial panels (3 or more judges) which would be more likely to consider all facts and render a more balanced opinion. Failure to address, and reverse, the war on cops (actual or perceived) could have catastrophic results. Cops enter the profession as young men and women - they want to serve, they have ideals, they want to make a difference in their communities. These cops risk everything - their job, their family, their reputations, and their freedom. Condemning cops, who are trying to do the right thing, as thugs, racists or criminals can only lead to a disastrous result not anticipated by their critics.

The Democrats have long had the Police under their radar. Less real policing allows political activists free rein to attack those they hate without any consequences. Soros has long funded violent activists to protest against borders, immigration, healthcare, and anything that will bring down countries. Poland banned him and his political activists ans so should the USA or any other Western World if they don't want their country to end up under a totalitarian state, the kind of state the wealthy love.

Ms.MacDonald doesn't dance around the ugly truth that solving America's crime problems seems to have taken second fiddle to exaggerating America's cop problems. For reasons I still don't understand, the left has decided that the annual deaths of as many as 6,000 black males is less important than the extremely rare unjustified police homicide of an innocent. Ms.Macadonalds reference to the destruction of the black family alludes to why; acknowledging their participation in that collapse indicts their entire agenda.

Ms. MacDonald does an amazing job of using indisputable facts to show the truth of the matter: there is NO crisis in America concerning law enforcement illegally or inappropriately using inordinate or excessive force against citizens, specifically persons of color. It occurs, of course, but it is statistically insignificant compared to how these allegedly discriminated-against groups assault, murder, and otherwise victimize themselves and each other. For example, young black male persons are far more likely to be killed by other young black male persons than law enforcement officers.The text is presented in a far better manner to understand than the invective often utilized by fringe groups, or the hyperbole chosen by the mainstream media. The book would be useful for students or researchers looking for data to combat the false narratives espoused by leftist groups.

I love the DK series of travel books for their ease of use, pictures, and maps. I have used many of their previous books including Paris, Amsterdam, London. Overall it's a very good book. I don't think their "Top 10" series are as good as their regular series, however.Pros:Nice illustrations, small local maps, extensive information about the sights. Good Metro map. Lots of information about places to eat. Good recommendations about locations outside of the city (I highly recommend visiting Stanley).Cons:Some of the maps are too small to be of help. This was especially true for the "New Kowloon" area which is pretty much useless as there are no streets and their dot could potentially be in a 1/4 mile area. I think there is too much emphasis on restaurants. It seems like "places to eat" took up more pages than the actual "10 top sites" in each section. I guess if you are really going to Hong Kong for dining vs seeing the city, this is ok. There was some incorrect info. For example, the closing day for museums was Mondays, not Tuesdays as indicated in the book.Overall another good book from DK and I will continue using them as my go to guide book. This was published in 2016 so hopefully the next edition will be coming out soon with some minor improvements.

I used this book during my trip to Hong Kong and it was an incredible journey. It has many attractions off the beaten path and it is absolutely comprehensive. It guided me through places otherwise not advertised. I went on the Heritage a trail and it was quite an experience. No markings, no bus stops, just immersed in a totally unique experience which was quite remote. I recommend this book for anyone with little time and great curiosity. I took incredible pictures and enjoyed a trip of a lifetime.

This book made our trip wonderful! Every item they recommended in it was to die for that we saw. I had just 5 days to spend in Hong Kong, and I followed all the recommendations, and had a spectacular time. Aberdeen was a great hidden gem, so was Lamma Island, Victoria's Peak, the light show. The maps were invaluable. I never go wrong with DK travel books! Highly recommend them and getting an Octopus card. To improve - add more hotel information and more information on the ferry, bus and subway transportation. If you are going to Hong Kong, i would recommend researching hotels and the transportation using other sources than just this book.

This seems to be the best guide that there is for Hong Kong. It is reasonably effective at highlighting some of the main sights. It is fairly out-of-date on some things that used to be good, but really aren't very good any more. Hong Kong is a vibrant, happening place, where things change. It also omits a lot of detail as far as locations and hours, so you are constantly having to supplement it with more research. With that being said, it was often helpful.

Very easy to use. Brief paragraphs about different attractions with information on how to get there. Plus a nice map as an extra. Nice for a quick overview.

Purchased as a gift for a client who was traveling to Hong Kong. They loved it and said it has been helpful for them to plan their visits.

As most people who read self-help books, for many years I am a sufferer of anxiety and fear. Sometimes, my fear comes to be panic. I trace back these fears to the education I suffered in childhood and which, among other mistakes, made me believe in a God who is more ready to punish us than to allow us to be happy. For example, God gave us the sexual pleasure, but the Church makes us believe that this pleasure, out of wedlock, is a mortal sin and condemns us eternally to hell. If our father was authoritarian and severe a person, it's no wonder that we believe that our father in heaven is alike, with far more power to punish our faults. And it is no use telling us, at the same time, that both parents love us and that the punishment is for our good. The fear was introduced to always, in our credulous minds and hearts . The basic belief that we are sinners, guilty and not worthy of a happy life is rooted in us, for the benefit of the authors of self-help books and to our unhappiness.As I was reflecting on my fears and anxieties and reading books that could help me overcome them, I began to realize that everything depends on our thoughts and the emotions that are associated with them. What many of these books tell us is to have positive thoughts. But I found out that there is no positive thinking without the negative thinking. Our mind is dual: when we think of "day", that thought brings the thought "night"; When we think of "life", we also think "death". Which of the opposing thoughts will be predominant in our mind? Depends on the beliefs that are stored in us. In my case, as one of my core beliefs is that I am a sinner who deserves to be punished, the thought "death" has more power than the thought "life", because it is in accordance with my belief.Later, and after having read a few more tens of books, I realized the concept of "resistance". I realized that trying to impose, by force, a positive thinking against the negative thinking, which made me feel anxious, had as a result give even more power to negative thinking. In the war between what I want and what I feel (what I believe), the winner is always what I feel. So, try to change my negative thoughts, opposing them with positive thoughts, is resisting negative thoughts and this resistance is precisely what feeds negativity.So if resistance isn't the solution, what to do?While I was going through these dark emotional experiences, with fear as the dominant factor, also had wonderful experiences, what I call " eye winks" of God ", as if God wanted to tell me that I'm never alone and that He is not how I was taught. These experiences are what the authors call "synchronicities". I will tell one of the most stunning.In 1971, I was on a beach in Africa with my wife and a 2 year old daughter. On that day, the beach was deserted. The closest one was over 500 feet away. I felt absolutely at peace with myself.I love the sea and the day was splendid. Then came to my mind the thought that that paradise was about to end. The vacation would end the next day, because we had no money to go on.Without losing my peaceful and happy state of mind, I asked my wife how much money would be needed to stay one more week and she said it would take a lot of money - about 500 dolars. Indeed a lot of money in 1971!Relaxed, I stretched my arms back and buried my fingers in the sand. I felt something touching my fingers of the left hand. I grabbed it and ... It was a 500 bill folded in four, buried in the sand, right behind me.Out of the blue (or rather the sand) was there exactly the money we needed to stay an extra week in that paradise. Neither more nor less!In the year that I had this experience, I had never heard of.Law of Attraction, positive thinking, visualization, Silva Mind Crontol, the power of now, power energy, quanta, manifesting desires, etc. What happened was totally spontaneous. And I had many other identical experiences, of which much later-and thanks to some books that I have read-I got an important conclusion: whenever I'm quiet, without wanting it to happen something, without worry for not having what I would prefer to have, without making any effort to have that thing, I get it. This has already happened to me dozens of times.This means that all the practices and techniques I have learned in these self-help books are wrong? In other words, any technique is a form of resistance? And the secret is to accept rather than resist? But what exactly is to accept?And what has this to do with the fear, stress and anxiety?Some of the books I read gave me a glimpse of what is acceptance. To accept is to be attentive to what is happening in me and outside me. If I'm afraid, acceptance is to see this fear in me. Is to observe the fear, rather than react to it. That way, I don't add any thought to fear; I only notice. I can assure you that, when I do this, the fear will go away after a few moments. Why?The answer is a surprising discovery that I don't remember seeing reported in any book. I discovered that fear is ... the fear of being afraid! We do not are afraid of this or that-God, the devil, death, disease, misery, flying, etc. We are afraid of being afraid, period. And, so, when we give our attention to the fear that we are feeling rather than trying to avoid it-and we accept it as we accept the wind in the trees, what we are doing is not being afraid of being afraid.And, if we are not afraid of being afraid, then we have no fear at all.

I don't know what I would do without Abraham's books....Emotions are our way of communication with God, Source, Creator, our Soul....what ever you want to call it. We have to tune in and stop trying to turn them off!

Whether you are new to the work of Abraham Hicks or otherwise, this book covers a wide range of human experiences and dilemmas and provides solid responses to each.The book is a different experience from listening to audio excerpts of seminars. Highly recommend!

This book help me understand a bit of the law of attraction that I had no clue I was not in place over.A must buy must read book for those seeking change....

Haven't read this one yet but, I borrowed this book from the library years ago. I saw it here for a good price and had to have it. I bought "Ask and it is Given". Fantastic book as well which i highly recommend too. Get both of them. You'll be glad you did. You need all of you to ignite LOA and people are always pushing their feelings away considering it a weakness. Ehhh (buzzer).....wrong. You need your emotions because as i read "Your emotions are the antennae of your thoughts". I'm an HSP/EMPATH so my feelings are always on and as a kid growing up people always tried to make me temper my emotions. Ehhh (buzzer)....wrong and and i knew it was wrong. I believe that we need to use all our senses. That's what they are there for.

This book is great. I read "Ask & it is given" first. Which was a wonderful book as well. This book helped me understand where my emotions were coming from and helped guide me to change them to better feeling emotions. Their information was extremely helpful and life changing. I highly recommend this book. It's awesome!!! It's true!! It works! Change your thoughts, change your emotions, change your life!! Read this book

As esther always got me used to. A wise woman whose words reassure you to just relax and everything will work out which makes sense. I tried worrying and rushing things and none of that helped.Esther advice makes perfect sense.
