I enjoyed this atlas, though for different reasons from other atlases. Yes, it covers the basic Bible timeframe, but it goes beyond the Bible to encompass the entire realm of Christian history. It shows the early Christian church all the way up to modern times. The text does a good job of supporting the maps. It also has the obligatory photographs and some artistic renderings of various church-related components such as a medieval monastary or three dimensional drawings of topography.But since Christianity is not the only force at work in the world, it does provide maps of other influences as well. Islam and European barbarian invasion routes are also shown. Any type of historical change-agent is given a map to help explain its impact and results. The maps in the atlas are well drawn and have all the necessary arrows to illustrate what the map is trying to say.All in all this is a very good atlas and I recommend it for anyone interested in either the Bible or early history of the church.

Our son had this in his library and I was really taken by the great maps and variety of Biblical locations. Well done. One of the best Bible atlases (even though it says Christian History) available.

Helpful with great pics

This a very attractive and informative atlas, the maps are very well done. However, in attempting to explain the geological structure of Palestine the author begins a paragraph "millions of years ago..." Which is to be expected in a secular or mainstream atlas, but here in a Christian text we have the accuracy and historicity of the Genesis account of creation being questioned.Also the atlas has adopted C.E. and B.C.E. dating methods.These things as well as references to Islam as "tolerant Islam" or to "the embracing nature of Islam" are enough to prompt me to warn conservative Christians.. enjoy the maps but beware the commentary!

Just finished this book in about 2 weeks. I highly recommend this for anyone that hasn't taken a math class fairly recently. Do you honestly remember the formula for the arc length of a circle when you're only given the radius and angle? Do you remember factoring or the the square root of something could be positive or negative? Unless you have an amazing memory and remember high school math, buy this book. It provides a ton of drill sets that help reinforce the lessons that you learn and helps you build confidence for doing these problems. I don't have a timing problem (famous last words), but this also teaches you shortcuts so that you answer problems more quickly than you would have otherwise.

It's been so long since I took high school math that I was really intimidated by the GMAT math difficulties. But this book made reviewing for the fundamentals fun and interesting. I actually look forward to studying the book for hours at a time and felt prepared when I finished the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who hated math/never had a good foundation in math. All explanation and comments in the book was well thought and enlightening. Through out my time studying the book, I found the authors very fun and humorous. I used to hate Math and thanks to this book, i love it now. :DWill take the GMAT in 40 days... we shall see how prepared this book has made me...

I have been out of school for ten years and it feels like I have forgotten every single thing I learned in my math classes. I bought the OG Quant Review and became completely disheartened upon reviewing it. I tried the GMAT for Dummies, but I'm embarassed to say I found that a little overwhelming, too. (I feel like I need to point out my under-grad GPA was 3.8, so I'm far from being a dummy, but that is how I felt after not using math for ten years.) I then bought the Manhattan GMAT Foundations of Math and I am very pleased with it so far. The author says it's a comprehensive guide to help us remember all the things we once knew, but have since forgotten. This is EXACTLY what I needed. This book reviews the basics. It is not an in-depth study guide. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has been out of school for a number of years and feels overwhelmed at the thought of the quant section of the GMAT.

Foundations of GMAT Math is the second edition of the book dedicated to a review of basic math principles. If you picked a GMAT Math book and having a hard time with it, this book is for you. Prepare to see pie charts explaining factions, multiplications table, explanations of what a multiple or prime is and how to factor numbers. If you are uneasy about math, give this book a try - you don't regret it. It is fantastic value for the 800 questions it offers. Would also recommend you pick up Number Properties and Word Translations by Manhattan GMAT. If you have purchased a full Manhattan GMAT set of books and hesitating between this book and Kaplan's version, definitely get this one - it integrates better.For reference, here are the topics covered by the book:1. It's pretty basic, but very useful for starters. I feel like there are not enough practice problems though. I do recommend this book for everyone who wants to refresh his/her math skills before getting serious with GMAT prep.

This book is very user-friendly and explains things in terms that are easy to understand. It is almost so literal that you laugh because you think to yourself "I knew that!" It definitely helped me to focus on the areas that I was not as comfortable with and made it much easier to understand.

It starts right at the beginning with selecting a theme, adding pictures, texts, logos and goes into how to set up pages, menus, use widgets, install plugins. It really gives you the tools needed to create your own website without any trouble. He even says to contact him with any questions which is a huge resource!I really wish I had it when I started my site 7 years ago. I've been through so much trial and error to learn things. And this book actually taught me a few new things too. I particularly loved the explanation on plugins and at the end how to set up an e-commerce store.Highly recommend!

This has been my first experience with The Explained Series by OSTraining so I can’t speak to their books in general, but I have to say my experience with this one has been overwhelmingly positive. I actually switched from WordPress to Wix with a website of mine a while back because I was consistently confused by it, but after this step by step work as you go look at the main components of WordPress, I’m contemplating transferring back to WordPress when repayment comes up. Stephen Burge does a great job of explaining step by step how WordPress works and what you’ll need outside of WordPress to make the website you’re making work properly. I really appreciated the information on how to use widgets and plugins because those concepts confused me to no end, leaving my website really basic with mainly just the blog feature being used properly. It does explain blogs if you don’t understand that, but it is super easy to skip over sections and read only the ones that will be useful to you which I appreciated. I understood blogs so I skipped blogs, simple as that. I appreciate most of all the end of the book because it gives a ton of good advice on how to properly keep your site secure. I’ve had so much trouble with that myself in the past with websites crashing from security issues and running slowly for users. Burge gives great advice on how to avoid this, best for me was his suggestion for a plugin that stops brute force attacks. If my rant doesn’t get the point through, if you need to understand WordPress, this is the book for you!

I grabbed this on Kindle to add to my library of how-to since I work with wordpress for a couple different sites and site types. This is the perfect book for the beginner wordpress user that has never used it before. Everything is explained in a point by point listing. Chapter 1 is theory. Chapter 2 is what you need to run wordpress. Assuming you already have an active install, Chapter 3 is really where you get into the meat and potatoes of what you do with the First 10 Wordpress tasks. The author uses simple language that anyone can understand. It's not written for the programmer but rather the layman.The biggest advantage you would have in picking up the Kindle version over Paperback is that you can do a quick search for terms like "YouTube", and you can go straight to that part of the book to see how to include YouTube in the WordPress site.I appreciate that the author goes into "Wordpress Posts Explained". When I first started in wordpress, I wasn't sure if I wanted a "Post" or a "Page". (He explains pages in chapter 6). The content I was specifically grateful for was the detail in the Galleries, (WP galleries have caused me quite a bit of angst in the past.), and Contact Forms.Don't be put off by the advertisements in this book. It makes it clear that it's Sponsored by GoDaddy, so you are going to have to endure some advertisement for their product. As I mentioned before the meat and potatoes starts at Chapter 3.At the end of the book there are 3 "Bonus" chapters.They make a recommendation for a plugin called "JetPack" in the first one. Personally this should've been the last one. Several readers will stop here. I did the first time and then I saw I had 2 more chapters past the advertisement for Jetpack in the index!! You can get the basic Jetpack package for free, but if you want anything that major advertisers would want - or even backups, then you would be shelling out for a membership package.Make sure you continue to the Bonus content of Optimizing Wordpress. (Trust me, or your site will run like a snail!) and if it is up your alley, the Bonus eCommerce content.4 Stars for the helpful wordpress content. Would've been 5 stars if they had kept the advertising to just the front or very back of the book instead of inserted into the content.
