As a second read through this book still blew me away. It's emotional and I really relate so much to so many of these poems. She weaves words right to my heart and I don't know how to cope with it all. The eating habits, the family relationships, and the relationship abuse written in poem form made for an honest story that you don't often see in books. I enjoy this poetry collection so much, and that's odd for me because I just ain't big on poetry. This one is worth every page out into it!

The Princess Saves Herself in This One is a collection of poetry in four parts: the princess, the damsel, the queen, and you. Honestly, I have a hard time calling this poetry because it’s more than that. This collection is raw emotion and life experiences manifested as words. It’s pain, suffering, self-reflection, self-discovery, love, loss, and more. I could spend years reading and re-reading it, carefully editing this draft, and I still wouldn’t be able to do it justice.As I read this, I had a couple of thoughts between sudden outbursts of tears. One was that I hadn’t read a collection of poetry that I related to and felt the words so deeply since my first encounter with Sylvia Plath’s poetry when I was a teenager. The second was that I probably should have read it with tissues and wine.I’ve had book hangovers before, but what I’m experiencing after reading The Princess Saves Herself in This One isn’t a book hangover, it’s a haunting. The words won’t leave me, and I’m ok with that. I bought the Kindle edition of this because A) I could have it and read it faster, and B) money was tight when I bought it. But, I think I’m going to order a physical copy ASAP because I want this on my poetry shelf. Something this important, something that touched my life in the way this book did (which I can’t convey in words, so I’m not going to try)… it deserves a spot on my shelf. I’m certain this will be something I read again…and again.

This book was incredibly powerful, it is just.... so so SO powerful. But more on that later, first here is the summary!The Princess Saves Herself in this one is divided into four separate parts, The Princess, The Damsel, The Queen and You. I don't read poetry books often, honestly, I don't like poetry all that much. The only other poetry book I read was Poisoned Apples, which like this book dealt with some heavy topics, although Poisoned Apples was more of a feminist book... I'm not entirely sure how to review poetry, so I wrote down some thoughts for each part, but first, here's the short of it!In its entirety:This book deals with some heavy topics, but they are IMPORTANT issues like anorexia, depression, and abuse just to name a few.The poetry was just so... AMAZING. I can't explain it but the way the words moved was fast paced but oh so interesting and I just could not put this book down. It was captivating and heart breaking but near the end, it became warm/had a good message.The Princess Saves Herself in this One started off very dark, and sad but near the end things get better. Like I said, the message was FANTASTIC (I think I'm going to buy it!)Very short and quick read, so people with not a lot of time can finish it in about an hour! SHARE IT with others!The Princess:This is probably one of the darkest beginnings I've ever read. But in the summary, it says that the first three parts are the authors life and the final is a message to the reader. The Princess (from what I picked up) deals with Anorexia, depression and bullying.Though this was really dark, it was POWERFUL and I can't say that enough. This book nearly brought me to TEARS. The message was just so GOOD and I just CANT explain how AMAZING this one, honestly, everyone should read it. The YOU part is what got to me the most D: well, all four parts go to me....The Damsel:My interpretation of this was young love and broken hearts.There as a LOT of loss in this chapter, a LOT and I was close to crying. I'm not a fan of poetry, but this poetry was so beautifully worded and pieced together and it made me feel things. It (not this section) made me smile/feel victorious and cry (this chapter DID make me cry!)The Queen:This section was about loving yourself, and growing stronger.THIS is where the book starts to get a lighter feel and like all three other sections, was POWERFUL (I can't say that enough D:<)You:This final part of the book was one of the most POWERFUL (I said it again) endings ever. The first two parts are sadness and grief, bullying and hurt, The Queen is about growing stronger and healing, but YOU is all about the reader. You is a message to treat people better, to know your worth and love yourself, to care more and to not let anyone treat you like your garbage.Fable's Final Thoughts:THE PRINCESS SAVES HERSELF IN THIS ONE was a very great poetry book, I think EVERYONE should read it, including you so here, go to Amazon and read it now. Charles A. Wells and his team do a fantastic job on all of their books. This is my fourth book by Mr. Wells and he has never steered us wrong. The trail descriptions are always spot on so you can pick the right one for you, your time-frame and your equipment.

This is a must have if you want to go trail riding in Arizona. I bring it on every trip when I go out riding. One issue, I don't know if it is my machine or what but the trail mileages don't line up perfectly and by the end of the trail, my odometer and the book's trail markers might be a couple of miles off but this is just a minor detail and easily worked around.Another thing, and this is the risk of dated publishing guides, some of the trails have been changed or segments closed, so be flexible when out on the trails.I do recommend buying the GPS data card that goes with this book. It has all of the trails and loaded without issue into my Garmin Nuvi.GPS Data Card for Guide to Arizona Backroads & 4-Wheel-Drive Trails 2nd Edition

Trails are rated easy to difficult and the binding problem plagued in early edition has been fixed. What is really nice about Wells' style is trails are grouped into zones with color rated trails and inviting colored pictures. Thus if you're new to off-roading you can easily find the green trails all over the state and have lots of fun in a stock vehicle. Some of the medium trails are just tough is some spots. Remember you can always go back as most of the trails can start at either end. His advice on how to prepare and behave on the trail is well worth reading. If you are new to off-roading and want to start off prepared with the right equipment and attitude I'd recommend picking up Jim Allen's Four Wheeler's Bible. Wells' book is very encouraging to beginners and is a must have book as Arizona has some really beautiful off-road opportunities. My only complaint is I wish Wells would reissue his California edition to include the trail coloring and beautiful pictures.

This book has some great roads and I do love that they have categorized them by experience. I was a little disappointed that they did not cover more of the state. Almost nothing covered on east side of state and very little of northern especially on the Mogollon Rim. Will keep looking for other resources

Awesome book. I can't imagine ever needing trails spelled out any better than this book does.Gives GPS coordinates at strategic points in dd.mm.ss. Unfortunately my 2015 Tundra Entune System only accepts dd.mm.mmm, so conversion is necessary. But, that's just an aside. It's still a good guide. I fault the Toyota for not being able to accept different formats - seems like that should be a basic function.

Loved the first edition and this is a great second edition. The color photos and maps greatly improve the readability. The spiral binding fixes my major complaint with the first edition. Maps and pics no longer get stuck in the binding in the middle. Also love the fact they made all routes easier to navigate in the opposite direction. The extra trails is just the icing on the cake!

I found this book interesting to read both from a trail and historical perspective. While visiting Arizona last summer, I took the Mt. Lemmon back road trail, which was rated easy, but would disagree. The last few miles required technical navigation of large rocks due to erosion, hammering my Subaru Forester. We made it but now question the accuracy of other trail ratings.

This book helped convince me to take a strong hard look at Arizona to relocate to. Most detail out of other maps or on-line sources. Can't wait to use it.

Absolutely love this book!I am an avid Jeeper, enjoyed awesome Arizona trails and camping due to the information on this book while being stationed there by my military career. I think even if you are an Arizonian that is familiar with your own neighborhood, this book has a lot to offer and will show you something new. I recommend to use with google maps app or a personal GPS that takes coordinates for destination.

Explains so much. If you're not a cook and not a foodie and can't tell if more salt is needed or something else; and if you wish you could take more pleasure out of food; ; and if you feel you have a palate made from synthetic leather, read this book. Barb will bring you through the science and the process of activating your senses to make you a more sure and knowledgeable taster.Minus one point because the tables in the kindle version are truncated.

I have a B.S. degree in Food Science from UC Davis and worked in the food manufacturing industry for 12 years (R&D, QA, market research). I don't work in the industry any more, but still enjoy following trends and cooking. I have never read or heard about the interesting topics that Barb Stuckey covers before. The book includes information about how different people taste in different ways. It seems to explain why my husband, who can smell the most subtle odors, is so picky. It even includes exercises that the reader can do to experience different flavor sensations in order to reinforce information she describes. This is one of the most interesting books I've ever read.

A lot of information; easy to understand, real inspiring; simple to remember, easy to follow; I do not follow it completely, but it inspires me something important.

I've sold a lot of these. (You're welcome Barb. You know we're SF neighbors and should chocolate taste some time.)This book is the perfect reference book: look up a sense and check out what you can learn about how it, like sound, from music in a room to the potato chip's crunch in our heads, affects and contributes to how we taste, er, savor. Chapters on flavors, too. Also an interesting feature is the tests and games to learn from in the real world. Recommended!!

Love this book. The author knows her stuff. I am a judge for preserved food events, and this book has really expanded my outlook on judging and quality. It has also helped me to understand people who don't react to food the same way I do.

An excellent, scientific look at a fascinating subject. An easy read for non-scientists, but with enough "meat" for scientific readers.

Barb Stuckey is a pedagogue and her explanation of the physiology of taste is luminous. This book should be required reading for every aspiring chef. The taste exercises are great family fun. But more importantly the organization of the book around the five taste receptors, geometrically represented as a star is very helpful for the composition of flavors in a dish.

Galison demonstrates the value of bringing both philosophical and historical perspectives to the reality of science.This book illustrates how modern (20th century) experimental physics has evolved from the small-scale laboratory of a single scientist, through the small, collaborative experiments (in the 1930s on cosmic rays) to the gigantic industrial scale monsters that now can only exist in multi-national collaborations, such as at CERN.It is in this last arena that Galison brings his philosophical (and sociological) analysis to the fore, where we see how the power of hierarchical groups (and persuasive rhetoric) are used to initiate and TERMINATE these massively expensive experiments. Here we see how the invisible 'neutral currents' were agreed to exist, so that even larger experiments such as the search for the so-called Higgs boson could be then be justified.Galison describes how a few theorists influence these armies of experimentalist/engineers expand their "Circle of Beliefs" reminding one how this type of science is almost NEVER replicated, while the religious similarities to the medieval scholastics (justifying their own vision of those hugely expensive constructions of their day: cathedrals) keep re-emerging - driven by faith, money and power.The only reason this IMPORTANT book does not get 5-stars from me (like other reviewers of some of Galison's other books have commented) is that it could have been written in a tighter style, cutting out maybe 100+ pages, making it more readable (and affordable) to a wider audience.

Contradictory info re food or not and missing an entire discussion on ph, and the use of lemons and such to release activecompounds. .Some mistakes, like info about toss and wash, which is taking powder in dry form, will certainly have some poor novice choke on it. Nasty. If only he had cited all the sources he used, all would be worthwhile, but not to be. More and better info,with references, can be dug up on reddit/kratom

I originally ordered this book so that my little Eagles could support their PE teacher and his wife. The book is so fun to read though and my kids both laughed and compared the teacher in the book to their teachers. It was such a fun way to make your “regular” teacher seem extraordinary. We love it!

Your kids or students will love this book! I bought this book to use with some of my students during the holidays for speech therapy. I cannot wait to use it with them! We can easily work on comparing/contrasting the teacher with an elf. I love that the text is simple and not too wordy. Great for the preschool population. Kids can have a wild imagination and often wonder what their teachers do outside of school. This book thrives off of the child's imagination. I would definitely recommend this book!
