I have used this book since 8th grade, went back to it several times during high school and successfully applied the knowledge gained into all my college papers. Now that I have my personal copy, my niece and nephews will greatly benefit from it. This book strengthens grammar learned in grade school and helps build on that as the student’s intellect grows. Honestly, I encourage purchasing the complete set if you would like in depth review/explanation for each grade; but this book briefly covers most if not all parts of speech and proper use of punctuation.
Does a good job with some nuts and bolts stuff. The composition section near the end is really quite good and a challenge to students at all levels. The section on sentence diagramming is not done well -- it's formulated along the lines of throwing a child in the water and saying 'Now, swim!' I've had to take more time in some areas, such as prepositional phrases, and pull worksheets off the net. Still, the book is worth it.
I erroneously wrote the review intended for this purchase for the purchase of a fa..which I am pleased with. .this item came almost torn in 2! Will have to tape it up. And no time to repurchase and return. Dissapointed indeed.
Great resource for Teachers! The lessons cross-reference skills; I used it to reinforce grammar skills for PARCC testing! It is a standalone with individual grammar lessons, that you can modify & build on!
My child needed this book for school and Amazon had the best prices!
Yes, the book looks great, but it is useless to me without an answer key. I contacted the publisher for the answer key. No luck. There is a teacher's edition for this, but $74 is rather pricey--no thank you. Purchasing this book was a waste of time and resources.
Would have been awesome if there had been an answer key.
