Interesting and Excellent. There may be well satisfied and adjusted, and intelligent people who have ultimate sexual practice, but my guess is there are many who wish it was easier to do and communicate. Relaxing into great sex as an older man with medical problems who can talk about anything without being upset with a partner who is happy and can do the same is a beautiful conscept. Sex changes as life goes on, but it can always be beautiful if we are free to talk about it when a problem arises and also not talk about it if there is no need. We always seem to have something lurking in the background in our subconscious or cultural conditioning. Marty Klein really expanded my thinking around sex and relationships. He explains how the body works, like how your spine delivers emotions, and how that impacts your sex and your life. And even though I've read that before, his brilliant ease with words transformed that insight into an epiphany. Really, he takes a lot of the pressure off sex by showing the ways we've added pressure to something that only has the meaning we decide to give it. So this book truly lives up to its title and promise of sexual intelligence. I highly recommend this book, even if you've read tons of them on sex and relationships. Definitely a fresh, brilliant voice on the topic and I'm looking forward to the Beyond Orgasm book.

This book seems like common sense when reading it, but it completely breaks down all the stress, shame, tensions, etc that tends to follow sex around. This is a great book for anyone who has any kind of negative feelings around sex or is not enjoying sex. It puts sex in its proper place in our lives and gives it the importance it deserves. Dr. Klein, at the same time, takes apart the importance we place on sex and puts it in a place where it can be just as important as we think it should be, just in a very different light. Highly recommended! I heard about this book on the Savage Lovecast btw. Thanks Dan and Dr. Klein.

I love this book. It is a book for all ages and for all couples. The author’s sense of humor is perfect. Light reading but full of truths - accept who you are and your body the way it is! Be yourself, communicate clearly and move on.

As a bandsman, horseman, and living history Cavalry trumpeter, I was immediately drawn to this book when I saw its title. I have played bugle calls and bugle marches while mounted for parades and other events. It is a unique experience and is rarely seen in the United States since the 1940s when the horse Cavalry was dismounted. However, you can go to Youtube and see music videos of British, French, and other country’s mounted bands. Trooper Gleason—a member of the U.S. Cavalry Association—has researched, in great depth, and authored a tremendous reference book that takes the reader back thousands of years to when animals, such as horses and elephants, their riders and horns were combined to more effectively provide command, control, and motivation of soldiers during both war and peace. He further addresses the traditions, such as kettledrums, that countries, rulers, and the mounted bands established, and how these traditions migrated from the Middle East and Europe to literally all parts of the world. He details the evolution of instruments and instrumentation; music and composers; training of horses and riders; transporting horses, equipment, and musicians; performances; and band directors/leaders. For the United States, the first mounted musicians were company trumpeters serving in Revolutionary War units. From then until the end of World War II there is a rich history of the Army, National Guard, and militia mounted bands, especially during the 1920s and 1930s. Bandsmen were soldiers first, with the same duties and training requirements as the other soldiers in their regiments. As bandsmen, they also spent many hours practicing then providing music for both military and community events. Frequently the company/troop trumpeters were added to enhance the band’s musical performances. The book is a researcher’s “god-send.” It is extensively footnoted with details and references. The bibliography is over two-dozen pages and includes articles; books; laws, procedures, regulations, and other official documents; newspapers, newsletters, and programs; websites; discography; correspondence; and interviews. And, the index is equally detailed with almost twenty pages. A nice Regency romance with two likeable characters in the H/h. The fact that the two of them were totally immersed in the history of ancient Egypt - a hot nerd and a hot nerdette - made the story sweet and sexy.While there was some intrigue in Gabriel and Rebecca's story, I was rather lost in the reveal about Gabriel's 'basement', and why he was so connected to it. He just seemed a bit TOO detached from society, when he really didn't have anything catastrophic in his life to make him withdraw. If anything, Rebecca's life and past history would lead more to becoming a hermit; even though she was alone and felt lonely most of the time, her personality was a lot more open and friendly than Gabriel's.Still - I liked this book. I was wavering between 3.5 and 4, so a weak 4.

Rebecca believes she is cursed and asks Gabriel Stone to help her. Gabriel believes she is a charlatan and questions her about her knowledge of Egypt. He is stunned to find out that she's not a fraud but the illegitimate daughter of Lord Welborn his old mentor. Someone is trying to scare Rebecca and it's not just her brother. A wonderful read with a beautiful ending!!

I don't give many five star reviews, but this novel deserves them. Very likeable H and h, who are perfect for each other. A good plot and a fast, enjoyable read. I look forward to reading Adele's other works.

This was not the best book in this series but I did like Gabriel and Rebecca. I guess the problem I had with it was there was no "falling" in love. I think after four days she was head over heels in love. Their relationship went from not liking each other to wham! We're in love! I agree with some previous readers that Gabriel's problem was not so severe that it should have caused him to be reclusive. Also, a minor thing, but how did he become so bronze skinned if he never came out of his cellar? The story also didn't really explain how Rebecca's life with her mom and dad was a "real" family. How much time did he actually spend with them as opposed to spending time with his other family? There were just too many unanswered questions and it needed more character detail to give it five stars.

Decidedly strong, intelligent and independent Rebecca Linwood runs a museum in London. Gabriel Stone, an Egyptian scholar, prefers being a recluse. Gabriel, irritated at being "forced" to discuss with Miss Linwood the ridiculous possibility of a curse at her museum, does so with arrogance and rudeness. And thus starts the action of this endearing and entertaining historical romance. The characters feel real, the setting spot on, the plot very much historical romance genre and the characters are up to the challenges they face with just enough suspense to lend tension to the story. A fine afternoon enjoyment. Be aware, some sexuality but not explicit/erotic.

Historical romances are a guilty pleasure, so stumbling upon a new author is always exciting. A Curse of the Heart was a fun read. The characters Rebecca and Gabriel were likeable and I like how Clee has them interact. Although the ultimate ending is predictable, there are still details that lead you guessing until they occur. My only complaint is although it's set in a specific time period, the overall story (for the most part) could really occur in any time period. There wasn't an overwhelming amount of detail or events to really cement it to a particular era. But a fun read and an author who's other books I look forward to reading.

Gabriel and Rebecca had shown up as peripheral characters in another Adele Clee novel, and they intrigued me enough that I wanted to read their story. Enjoyed it tremendously. I can usually spot the villain as well as their motivation early on in a book, but this one caught me by surprise. Good plot, great and complex characters. Love reading her books.

Brought together by their fascination of Egypt, Rebecca and Gabriel learns to let go of their pasts and start looking to the future. The characters from this book has appeared in other of AC book, they are different but strong and vulnerable at the same time. It’s an enjoyable story with a hea. Would have liked en epilogue!

I've read this book twice. The first time was recovering from a double total knee replacement and it was perfect for this time. The book wasn't mine, so I threw it away. Mistake! I bought this one, with the lovely illustrations (the other book had none) and it soothed my soul once again. This book is a rare treasure for me; I usually read books only once as an experience. This book should be read again and again. It's very good for helping me get through tough times and to know the love of Christ and our journey, hard though it may be, with Him.

Great book! I’ve sent this book to family members and friends as an encouraging gift. The illustrations and beautiful. The story itself is a great read and I would highly recommend to any believer who has faced mountains and valleys (AKA all of us).

This is a beautiful book! I love the illustrations, the size of the book, the quality of the product is exceptional. Would make a great gift.

The soft illustrations and designs in this beloved classic are littered all throughout the book, which makes it a pleasant read, compared to the typical novel format. The back of the book contains entries of Hanna's journals and a snippet of her biography found in "The Hearing Heart." It feels a shame to mark up this book with highlights and a writing, which is why I bought two copies, one to keep clean and pristine.Beautiful, beautiful!

About the Author

Terry Harrison grew up in Norfolk. His early art education was basic and he never dreamed that he would become an artist. At fifteen, Terry moved to Hampshire and was inspired by a brilliant art teacher. He took O and A levels in art, then won a place at Farnham Art School at the age of sixteen. He became a graphic artist, but continued to paint in his spare time. In 1984 Terry gave up his job to paint full time. He demonstrates to artists' groups and teaches on painting holidays. I looked at this book at my local art store before purchasing. It has many wonderful techniques for the beginning or advanced artist. While it does mention his own personal brushes, many of the techniques can be duplicated with many brushes I already own.for Instance, He lists a brush called a Wizard, which looks a lot like a Rake or Comb Brush. (Although, his looks all fluffy and rough, after a few uses several of my Rake brushes, it now looks a lot like his. While I take good care of them, I tend to use my rake brushes a bit drier to get those wonderful stripy looks.) His Deerfoot Stippler is also known as a dabber and other terms. It looks like most or all of his brushes have some equivalent you can get without buying his brushes. If you wish to find brushes like his, look in the water color and oil paint brushes as well. I have found many water color brushes to some wonderful things with acrylic paint.Another brush he calls a sword brush he mentions is a pottery brush. You may also find it with other area of painting you never thought of before. In a search, I found it for pin-striping on vehicles.When buying brushes at your local store, if you have time, wander around the art store in areas you would not normally go. you will be surprised of the things they put for other areas of art.Sumi-e Painting also has a range of unique brushes which can be used in your paintings, if you desire some new things to try.This books shows techniques clearly, with pictures and descriptions. Some of these are also on his website. The only thing I found better, so far, is to watch videos. And there is an abundance of those on YouTube.My art style is VERY different from his. I prefer a more realistic and smoother look to many things in my paintings (similar to what you would see on Fantasy and Sci-Fi book covers), but I can use his techniques to improve my existing skills. This is a book I find as a good addition to my Art Library. It has techniques that beginning and experienced Painters can use.Good luck

I borrowed this from the library along with a bunch of other beginner's books on painting with acrylics. I liked it best and bought a copy of my own. The mystery when I started painting was brush techniques and wondering which brushes I should start with. I've tried a few of the techniques and even impressed myself with strokes that on other's paintings look a lot more complicated than they actually are. It sure makes painting more fun when you can actually achieve the look you hope to. I have gone back and referred to it several times.

There are a lot of techniques in this book that I didn’t pick up in college art classes. I’d highly recommend this book to any artist out there who wants to improve their technical methods.

Terry Harrison has several books out dealing with acrylics and watercolor. He thoroughly explains how to use each brush in his collection, facts needed for choosing the right paper or canvas, instructions about paints and mixing. Also, the books themselves are beautiful to look at -- great for ideas of things to paint and how to do that. I love Brush with Acrylics and refer to it often as I paint. I have several friends who also have this book and love it as much as I do. It should be on every artist's reference shelf. (But, don't expect step-by-step tutorials for each painting in the book. This is a book of instruction -- not one used to teach "a painting".)

I paint for my personal entertainment and for recreation. But I like my results to look good, so I am always working on technique. I enjoy practice, and there are lots of techniques here to extend skills. While he recommends and markets his own brushes, I find I can substitute what is locally available and still get fine results. This author is a natural teacher. Easy to follow.

What a fun book to read and so well written! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I don't read a lot of "romance" novels or books in that genre, so I'll admit that I bought it on the reputation and recommendation of one of my favorite authors, Richard Paul Evans, the author's father. I am so happy that I took a chance on this book. I was pleasantly surprised that, while love and romance were a major theme of the book as is clearly implied by the title, there was as much emphasis on all the other kinds of love that we experience in life; i.e., love between a parent and child, love between friends, and love of oneself. The reader is taken on a journey of discovery, both of self and of others. While the book is marketed toward young adults and it is an easy read, it is in no way "dummied down" or simplistic. I believe that anyone of any age can gain wisdom from reading this book, as we all need times of reflection, introspection and discovery to find out who we were, who we are, who we can be, as well as who those around us really are as compared to who we thought they were. Lastly, for those concerned about profanity and sexual gratuity, I wanted to mention that this is a "clean" book. There is no profanity or sex which, aside from being a nice break from what has become so common in books lately, is just not necessary to move the story forward. If anything, it would take away from the story, and it is such a sweet and beautiful story that nothing should be allowed to take from it.

I knew before I read it that it was a book for teens, just because the publisher’s URL referenced on the back cover was simonandschuster.com/teen. Knowing that made a big difference in how I read it. The prologue consisted of the main character’s mother’s diagnosis of a terminal and fast-moving illness, then skipped to the mother’s deathbed wish that said main character, Lina, go to Italy to stay with a man she’s never met but whom her mother trusts because he is apparently Lina’s father, and then dives right in with her arrival in Italy in chapter one. Its pacing, especially at the beginning, is, I think, reflective of Lina’s shock and denial about being in such a difficult, unexpected situation. It isn’t until later in the book that she begins to come to terms with her grief, and that reckoning and increase in maturity is an endearing thing to be a part of.Indeed, if I could sum up the whole book in just one word, it would be “cute.” But then I would have to clarify that by saying that it is so because of its appeal to teenagers (especially girls), its pacing, and its wonderful voice. The dialogue sounded consistently authentic and humorous. There are rejoinders like this on almost every page: “Odette grimaced. ‘I’m spending the summer pretending to be somewhere other than Italy. Ren grinned. “How’s that working out for you? You know, with your Italian husband and children?”I absolutely loved the humor in this book, as expressed in conversations like that and in Lina’s and her friend’s actions.And, of course, the romance was fun. If you’re an adult looking to read about a serious, in-depth, marriage-inducing love, you won’t find it in this book, nor should you expect it, except for a smattering in her mother’s backstory. But it was still a joy to “watch” the blossoming of romantic feelings between Lina and a certain male character. The bumps and detours they experienced as their relationship developed made for a good plot.So, if you have a teenage daughter, get this book for her right now. Keep in mind that there is a little bit of alcohol use, and various references to Lina’s illegitimacy. It does skim over the fact that Lina never knew her father while growing up with her mother, and never really questioned her father’s absence, but that may have been because of her afore-mentioned grief. Even if you’re not a teenager yourself, but are looking for a light summer read, you should read this. Enjoy it in the vein that it was written, with “love” and “gelato” used together in the title, almost as if they’re interchangeable. “Love & Gelato”, by Jenna Evans Welch is simply phenomenal!As I finish, I feel exactly as though I have just had the BEST vacation to Italy, explored Florence & even part of Rome, went on some long runs through a scene from an Olive Garden menu & a American Memorial Cemetery, & had some crazy awesome adventures with my new best friends.Uh, WOW.This doesn’t happen.When I’m really busy with life, I read at least half a dozen books a week minimum (when less slammed by my own writing deadlines, sometimes that half dozen is per day; chain-reading is a struggle that I struggle to want to struggle with), & I cannot remember the last time a book took me on such a delightful journey.It was pure magic.Maybe because I’m half-Italian myself & always wish I’d been able to go back when my Grandpa was still alive & my family went all the time—they wouldn’t hear of it, as I was at University, and, at the time, the first in our famiglia to ever graduate, but the family doesn’t go over together anymore now that my Grandpa is gone. End of a magical era I have always wished I hadn’t missed.It was like a taste of that kind of magic.Only not just a tasting spoon lick of magic like My lactose-intolerant self had with the Alfredo I made for dinner tonight. But like a Strega Nonna pot full of magic. Like I’d baked a crusty chewy loaf of Italian bread to go with it & sat down to enjoy the entire pot, but with none of caloric or tragic lactose-derived consequences after.In fact it was exactly like I was surrounded by my big fat Italian family’s love, & swimming in a sea of gelato.Perfetto.“Love & Gelato” indeed.I will be recommending this wonderful adventure to everybody. I don’t think I have EVER felt that way about ANY book before. Certain books to certain genre lovers, certainly. But everyone? My horror writer friends to sci-fi, to suspense thriller authors like myself, EVERYONE will find something to delight in in this novel. It is a masterpiece of writing & a gorgeous quilt of storytelling, & is utterly magnificent.Certamente, Jenna Evans Welch is something special & definitely an author to keep an eye on.I discovered this book because I wanted to read Ms Welch’s 1st novel before reading the advanced reader copy of her 2nd, “Love & Chocolate”, that I won at a local book store’s semi-annual “Ladies’ Night”. I’m getting a crick in my neck from patting myself on the back for that choice, so I’m going to end here & pick up my delicious new ARC of “Love & Chocolate,” and begin reading in 3, 2, 1... Ciao!
